Through my undergraduate major, Public Affairs Journalism, we were given the opportunity to explore, build and refine multimedia skills through a range storytelling platforms. It was during this period that I first saved money from my multiple jobs (leading campus tours, working as an RA and interning in at Nationwide) in order to purchase my first Canon.
Consequently, my experiments with visual media grew in and outside of class– and have carried into my role as an educator and into my travels abroad. As journalism students we primarily used Soundcloud, Audacity, Adobe (Photoshop, InDesign and Light Room) and Final Cut Pro to create these projects. As a secondary teacher I was fortunate to utilize iMovie, Garage Band, and other free sources to share multimedia editing skills with my middle school students in our journalism elective course. The work my students created were incredible, yet each work is their own.
The examples included on this site stem from my earlier collegiate projects. While not featured among the examples here, I still enjoy creating multimedia projects in my free time and among family.
